Willow Footpath

Noticing the path

A familiar route can feel different when attention shifts from the destination to the ground beneath our feet. A line of moss marks the shaded side of a wall. Loose stones gather at the inside of a bend. A shallow root quietly changes the rhythm of a step.

Choose one thing to follow

Instead of trying to notice everything, choose a single detail: leaf shapes, the sound of water, or the edges between sunlight and shade. A small constraint makes observation easier.

Leave room for a pause

Stop somewhere safe and look back. The same path becomes another composition in the opposite direction. There is no need to record it all; a sentence or a small sketch can be enough.
